Project description

We are interested in recruiting highly motivated and creative PhD students to study the fascinating molecular organization of biological membranes. Our lab takes an interdisciplinary approach to this topic, employing biochemical, biophysical, molecular biological and cell biological techniques.

Our lab focuses on the in vitro reconstitution of cellular membrane processes. Specifically, we use recombinantly expressed proteins and purified native protein complexes in combination with model membrane systems, including planar lipid bilayers (single channel electrophysiology), giant unilamellar vesicles, lipid nanodiscs and supported bilayers. These findings are then explored in appropriate cell biology in vivo systems.

Selection criteria

Bachelor and/or Master in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics (or the like), highly motivated, knowledge in basic biochemical-, molecular biology- and/or biophysical techniques
